French authorities have detained 25 individuals linked to a surge in cryptocurrency-related abductions targeting high-profile figures in the digital asset space. The suspects, aged 16 to 23, include six minors, with 18 placed in pre-trial detention. The crackdown follows a failed May 13 kidnapping attempt involving relatives of Pierre Noizat, CEO of Paymium, a Paris-based crypto exchange.

Investigators note this was part of a broader pattern, with similar thwarted attempts occurring days apart. The diverse suspect pool spans origins from Paris to Senegal and Russia, underscoring the transnational nature of crypto-related crime. Bloodshed marked the Paymium case, with victims sustaining visible injuries during the botched operation.
